Product Details
Vintage 1960s/70s Rare Collectable Hunter Sata-Lite Copper Red Lava Lamp Made In England 17.5”. These
lamps were produced by Hunter a competitor company to the famous Crestworth (now Mathmos) business in the UK. They were sold as Sata-Lite in the lava form and Sparkle-Lite as a glitter lamp.
Sata-Lite & Sparkle-Lite lamps used one kind of bottle shape. Inside the bottle, the wax within the lamp is notably very soft and runny when cold, in fact the wax tends to give the appearance it is extremely liquidy in comparison to the later solid formula Crestworth Astro. These lamps, when seen clear often display poor flow unlike superior Crestworth products. They lack the trademark Crestworth serpentine flow completely and are more blobby in their operation.
The metal bases are spun, just like the caps. The inside contains a bulb holder and a metal ring that simply holds the fitting and bulb in place. Sometimes these lamps are seen with a black rubber edging on the base, however they mostly are seen open, the edges of the base can be rough and sometimes scratch the surface the lamp is placed on. This lamp does not come with the black table protecting rim.
Rare to find in this condition with no dents whatsoever as one owner from new. Left fully original for a collector but would advise new owner to get an electrical inspection. The spun copper metal base does get quite hot to touch if left on for a long time but unsure if this is normal for these models. Fully working in a great collectors condition H 44cm Base diameter 12cm Cable length 85cm. Will be safely and securely packaged
